One-on-One Guidance Counselling
At Edukos Academy, students have the opportunity to meet one on one with the Guidance Counselor or School Principal whenever they need support. These meetings allow students to discuss academic planning, course selection, graduation requirements, and future goals. The goal is to provide personalized guidance so that each student can make informed decisions, stay on track toward earning their Ontario Secondary School Diploma, and feel confident about their educational path. Students can reach out at any time for advice, clarification, or support.
OSSD Graduation Requirements
To earn the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), every student must complete three things:
• 30 credits in total — 17 compulsory credits and 13 optional credits.
• 40 hours of community involvement.
• The Ontario Secondary School Literacy requirement — the OSSLT test or the OLC4O literacy course.
The 17 compulsory credits are:
4 English (one per grade); 3 Mathematics (at least one in Grade 11 or 12);
2 Science; 1 Canadian History; 1 Canadian Geography; 1 the Arts; 1 Health and Physical Education; 1 credit in Technological Education; 1 credit in STEM-Related Course Group, 1 French as a Second Language; 0.5 Career Studies; and 0.5 Civics.
The remaining 13 optional credits are chosen by the student from Edukos Academy’s course list. Our guidance counsellors help every student map out all 30 credits, the community-involvement hours and the literacy requirement so nothing is missed.
University & College Pathways
Edukos Academy guidance counsellors also support students applying to post-secondary — including course prerequisites, transcripts and applications through the OUAC (universities) and OCAS (colleges). Edukos graduates apply to universities and colleges in Canada, the U.S., the U.K. and beyond.
